PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin-lightening agent having melanin generation inhibiting activity. SOLUTION: The skin-lightening agent contains extracts of one or more plants selected from the group consisting of Bischofia polycarpa and Deutzianthus tonkinensis of Euphorbiaceae plants, Cipadessa cinerascens of a Meliaceae plant, Cryptomeria fortunei of a Taxodiaceae plant, and Typhonium flagelliforme of an Araceae plant.
