PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element-producing method enabling the smooth replacement of a molding raw material with an optical element, without damaging a plurality of molds held by a carrying fixture and also without enhancing, beyond necessity, the accuracy of a mechanism portion for replacing a molded optical element with the molding material. SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for production of the optical element includes a molding part 2, the upper mold-detachable parts 6, 7, the optical elements taking-out parts 4a, 8a, the molding material-feeding parts 4b, 8b and a separation part 4c for separating a carrying fixture 32 from a plurality of molds 31R, 31L held by the carrying fixture 32 therefrom. The upper mold-detachable parts 6, 7 are composed so as to attach or detach at every mold, the upper molds to or from the plurality of molds 31R, 31L which are separated from the carrying fixture 32 at the separation part 4c.
