PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film and a composition for forming coating film capable of efficiently exhibiting excellent play of color effect without making contain a color material such as a pigment. SOLUTION: The film is characterized in that it contains fine particles having a refractive index of 1.4 to 1.6, an average grain size of 300 nm to 1μm, and a variation coefficient of 10% or less, and in that the closest-packed structure is formed by the fine particles. Additionally, the film is characterized in that it contains fine particles, in that the closest packed structure is formed by the fine particles, and in that the reflected light reflected when the light is entered has reflected light even in an outside angle thanθ±15°in addtion to a regular reflection angleθwith respect to the film surface.
