PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intervertebral prosthesis for utilization as an intervertebral disc replacement in the skeleton of the human body, especially for rotating and tilt transversely back and forth. SOLUTION: The intervertebral prosthesis includes a first prosthesis plate 10, which has a first coupling element, e.g., in the form of a spherical cap, and a second prosthesis plate 20, which has, for example, a hollow spherical shell 54 into which a spherical cap 51 engages in the coupled state. To create a physiologically favorable intervertebral disc replacement, the rotational movement of both prosthesis plates with respect to each other around an axis perpendicular to the prosthesis plates is significantly limited, for example to 3 degrees.
