A flange connection designed as a pipe connection device having a flange part which is arranged on the outside of the pipe to be connected and can be screwed to a counterpart by means of at least two screws, wherein a sleeve-shaped insert piece can be inserted into the end, provided with a widened portion, of the pipe to be connected, said insert piece being adapted in its outer contour to the contour of the widened portion of the pipe end and forming at its outer end face the connecting surface for the pipe connection, and wherein the flange part which can be screwed on overlaps a clamping ring additionally pushed onto the widened pipe end on the outside and adapted in its inner contour to the contour of the widened portion of the pipe end, is characterized in that the widened portion (14) of the pipe end (13) has a trumpet-shaped contour which runs smoothly from the outer pipe end to the cylindrical pipe body (12) without forming a bend and with the greatest slope in the region of the outer end of the widened portion (14) and with the smallest slope in the region of the transition to the cylindrical pipe body (12), and in that the clamping ring (22) enclosing the end of the pipe (12) is provided on its outside with a shape (24) which can be inserted into a standardized flange part (25) in a positive-locking manner.
