An actuator for an optical pickup is provided to project light at an accurate position of a signal recording surface of a disk by adjusting the intensity and direction of current applied to a focusing coil and tracking coils to move a bobbin. An actuator for an optical pickup comprises a base(30), a bobbin(40), a focusing coil(44) and tracking coils(46), and a holder(36). The base is installed with yokes(32) having magnets(34). The bobbin is installed on the base apart from the upper surface of the base to collect the light from the light source on a disk. The focusing coil and tracking coils are wound to move the bobbin in a focusing direction and a tracking direction. The holder is installed with suspensions(38) which are connected to two surfaces of the bobbin to support the bobbin. Tangential rotation of the bobbin is controlled to adjust the light projected on a signal recording surface of the disk accurately.
