A damping force variable valve is provided to avoid friction between an inner peripheral surface of a spool guide and a spool by separating the spool guide from a spool. A damping force variable valve comprises a spool guide(20) and a spool(30). The spool guide has a plurality of contact ports(20a,20b,20c) for flowing fluid and a number of protrusions(22a,22b) formed on an inner peripheral surface circumferentially. The spool is separated from the inner peripheral surface of the spool guide and contacts with the protrusion selectively to control flow of fluid in the contact ports.
