A method of controlling a navigation terminal with an ETCS function is provided to enhance user convenience by servicing an ETCS function as well as a navigation function. A central process unit(104) controls navigation and ETCS(Electronic Toll Collection System) functions. A GPS(Global Positioning System) module(106) checks the current position of a vehicle. A DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) module(108) processes DMB service. An RF(Radio Frequency) unit(110) communicates with an ETCS system. An interface(112) is used for interfacing with smart cards. Memories(114,116) store navigation, ETCS, and tolling information. A storage unit(118) stores map data. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device(120) displays service information. An audio player(122) outputs audio messages related to traffic information. An input unit(124) allows a user to input instructions through a remote controller or a touch screen. A file player(130) replays message files, such as motion pictures or images. Speed detecting and recognizing units(126,128) detect traveling speed and arrival time of the vehicle. A controller(134) controls the display of the service information and the replay of the message file under control of the central process unit. |
