Vaccination methods against avian influenza virus

The inventions provides the use of an inactivated avian influenza virus in the preparation of a medicament for protecting against infection with avian influenza virus, wherein the inactivated virus is characterized by the same subtype of viral haemagglutinin and a different subtype of neuraminidase compared to the infectious virus against which protection is sought.
