The fishing float comprises a hollow cylindrical plastics body (1), its top (2) being open and its lower end pointed and containing a weight (3). Above this is a hole (4) providing access for water or air into a chamber formed by a piston seal (7). The piston has a rod (5, 6) attached, projecting through the open top. The sealed piston can slide inside the hollow body and can be removed, if required, to permit additional weights to be inserted. Guides (8, 9, 10, 12) and a wedge (11) for the fishing line are provided on the side of the body. This allows variation in the density of the float and the level at which it floats, without alteration of the filling. It does not decrease the lifting capacity of the float.
