A composite for treating an oil or gas well includes a water-insoluble adsorbent having a surface area of 1-100 m<2>/g and a well treatment agent adsorbed onto the water-insoluble adsorbent in a weight ratio of said agent to said adsorbent of 9:1 to 1:9. The composite is capable of having a lifetime, from a single treatment, of at least six months. Various treatment agents are claimed such as inhibitors of corrosion, scale, paraffin, salt and gas hydrates, oxygen scavengers, biocides, foaming agents, emulsion breakers and surfactants. Various water-insoluble adsorbents are also claimed. |
