A highchair assembly 1 comprises a folding frame and a detachable infant carder 20. The frame may comprise a frame body having front and rear leg frames 11,12,21,22 which can be folded together; a pivotally connected receiving frame 7 upon which the infant carrier 20 is supported; and a reclining mechanism 5 allowing the receiving frame 7 to recline in one of several reclined positions. The reclining mechanism 5 preferably includes a first seat 55 mounted to the frame body, a second seat 73 mounted to the receiving frame 7, and a gear 53 mounted between the first and second seats. The first and second seats have teeth for engaging the gear and positioning the receiving frame in a desired reclined position. A push button may be used to disengage the gear 52 from the second seat 73. The frame may also be provided with a sliding blocker device 52 that restricts the extent to which the receiving frame 7 may rotate, or prevents the receiving frame from rotating to the folded state when an infant carrier is being supported on the frame. |
