<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protection device capable of preventing some stored items in a storing box from being dispersed when an air bag is developed under a sitting state of an occupant at an assistant's seat even if a knee protection air bag device is installed below a drawer-type storing box. <P>SOLUTION: The occupant protection device has a storing box 48 comprising a box body 51 capable of being drawn out of a storing cavity 6 and a cover 58 held on the box body 51 and allowing the vehicle interior side of the box body 51 to be opened. When an occupant M is not sitting on a chair, a drawing-out operation inhibiting means 13 arranged around the box body 51 is inactivated and an opening operation inhibiting means 64 arranged around a cover 58 is activated to allow the box body 51 to be drawn out of the storing cavity 6. When the occupant M is sitting on the seat, the opening operation inhibiting means 64 is inactivated and the drawing-out operation inhibiting means 13 is activated, the box body 51 is not allowed to be drawn out, and the cover 58 is opened in respect to the box body 51. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
