The device has a work piece table (20) for carrying a work piece (2) which is to be sampled, and a conveying device for inducing relative movement between the work piece and a printing device (10) that is formed as an ink-jet printing device. A processing device (30) is provided for processing the work piece. A spindle unit (6) is movable along a guiding device and is rotatable around an axis. A transfer unit is arranged to receive data and/or energy and/or ink. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a pressure unit for a work piece refining device (2) a method of refining a work piece.
