The device has a shock absorber (3) with an essentially cylindrical housing (1) and a pneumatic spring (4) with a working chamber (6) under internal pressure with an additional volume (7) that can be connected to the working chamber via a closable flow channel (8). The additional volume is enclosed by a hollow body (9) around the shock absorber formed from an outer cylinder (10) and a concentric inner cylinder (11) connected to it.
