The padding system is generally for locating items in a box and it includes a support portion 11 (or "A") for supporting one end or the base of an item and an enclosing portion 12 (or "B") for circumferentially supporting the sides of an item within a box. Both portions have protrusions 13 of different sizes that define air chambers that do not communicate with one another, and the enclosing portion is formed with taller protrusions than the support portion. The protrusions of different heights can have such heights that they define a general contour so as to fit the shape of the goods which they support, and also so as to fit the support portion with the enclosing portion. The enclosing portion can be made as a strip comprising protuberances, which is wrapped around the item to be protected. Both portions could be manufactured as a unitary item. |
