<p>This disclosure relates to a reaction vessel and a method for effecting the interaction of liquids and reagents. The reaction vessel (20-20h) comprises a first zone (22-22h) connected by a passageway (60-60h) to a second zone (24-24h). Liquid is introduced into the first zone (22-22h) and is transmitted through the zone (22-22h) by means of capillary action. A meniscus control means in the passageway (60-60h) is effective to stop capillary flow of the liquid from the first zone (22-22h) to the second zone (24-24h), until an externally-generated pressure is applied to the liquid in the first zone (22-22h).</p> |
