An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to prevent image blurs generated due to the touch of a user or gravity, by forming a main column spacer contacted with protrusions of a lower substrate and a sub column spacer distanced from the lower substrate. A first substrate(100) includes a planarizing layer(140), wherein the planarizing layer contains reactive mesogens for controlling the phase difference of an incident light. A second substrate(200) faces the planarizing layer, wherein the second substrate has protrusions. A main column spacer(151) is disposed on the planarizing layer while the main column spacer is contacted with the protrusions. A sub column spacer(152) is disposed on the planarizing layer while the sub column spacer is distanced from the second substrate. The main column spacer is contacted with at least two protrusions. The second substrate includes gate lines arranged in a first direction and data lines arranged in a second direction.
