The pencil sharpener has a housing made from plastics material, with a conical insertion opening for the pencil. A blade is fixed to the housing. The housing is made in two sections, with the cover plate (2) holding the blade (3) against it's support on the lower section of the housing (1). The cover plate may be welded to the lower section of the housing and there are complementary centering projections and recesses on the latter and the cover plate (2) in the form of a surrounding edge and a complementary groove.
