A video signal processing apparatus and a method thereof, a program and an image display apparatus are provided to prevent generation of a gap at an image wipe position and display images at the wipe position, which are identical to the images which are independently displayed. A video signal processing apparatus includes a video signal combiner, an image processor, and a video signal output unit. The video signal combiner extracts a first main region and a first boundary region from a first video signal, extracts a second boundary region and a second main region from a second video signal and combines the first main region, the first boundary region, the second main region and the second boundary region. The first main region corresponds to a region before the boundary which divides a screen into two and the first boundary region corresponds to a region between the boundary and a first position located behind the boundary by a predetermined distance. The second boundary region corresponds to a region between a second position placed before the boundary by a predetermined distance and the second main region corresponds to a region located after the boundary. The image processor performs a predetermined image process on the combined video signal output from the video signal combiner. The video signal output unit removes the first boundary region and the second boundary region from the combined video signal output from the image processor to obtain an output video signal. |
