PURPOSE:To obtain a porous gel having good stability and easy handling property, by using a water-insoluble org. binder solution in preparing the porous gel by hydrolyzing a metal alcoholate. CONSTITUTION:In preparing a porous gel by hydrolyzing a metal alcoholate shown by general formula M(OR)n (wherein M is a metal or metalloid of GroupI-IV of the Periodic Table, R is 4C or lower alkyl group, n is an integer of 1-4), a solution of a water-insoluble org. binder such as cellulose acetate or polyvinyl chloride is used. The obtained porous gel is not finely divided and serves as a base material with good stability and easy handling property. |
