A method for controlling air quality for a vehicle is provided to maintain clean air of an interior of the vehicle by differently setting a gas concentration variation, an gas concentration absolute value, and an internal mode maintaining time for each regional mode, and switching an internal air mode and an external air mode in accordance with pollution levels for different region. A method for controlling air quality for a vehicle comprises the steps of: receiving a frequency of gas detection, a gas concentration absolute value, and gas detection-free time, classifying information into several regional mode, setting a standard gas concentration variation, an gas concentration absolute value, and an internal mode maintaining time for each regional mode(S10); detecting the concentration of harmful gas in external air by using an AQS(Air Quality control System) sensor(S20); judging a current position of the vehicle among several regional modes on the basis of driving condition of the vehicle, the concentration of harmful gas(S30); comparing the detected concentration of harmful gas to the set standard value for each regional mode to detect the pollution of external air(S40); and switching the air conditioner into an internal air mode if the external air is polluted or controlling with an external air mode if it is not polluted(S50).
