A mold supporting unit and an apparatus for exchanging the same are provided to replace a support rod automatically and reduce replacement time by connecting an assembly unit with a driving unit and lifting up and down the assembly unit. A mold supporting unit comprises a lower supporting unit, an upper supporting unit(14), a vertical frame(20), an assembly unit(40), and a driving unit(60). The lower supporting unit is fixed at a press. The upper supporting unit is installed at an upper side of the lower supporting unit and is separated from the lower supporting unit. The supporting units are replaceable based on the structure or installation height of a lower mold. A combining groove is formed at a lower side of the upper supporting unit. The driving unit includes a motor(62) having a screw shaft(62a), and a moving member(64) whose one side is connected with the assembly unit. The assembly unit includes a base member(41) having a vertical through hole(42a), a rotary motor(44), a rotary gear(45) which is mounted at an end of a driving shaft(44a) of the rotary motor, a roller(46), and a first horizontal cylinder(47) which is connected with a cylinder rod(47a). Gear grooves(14b) are formed at an outer periphery of the upper supporting unit.
