The invention relates to an indicator system, constructed as a reflector (1), for motor vehicles, which is composed of three lights with the traffic colours and is mounted at the rear of vehicles. The switching logic is constructed in such a way that the green light (2) is operational when the accelerator pedal is actuated, the yellow light (3) is operational when the accelerator pedal is not actuated, and the red light (4) is operational when the brake pedal is actuated. The advantage of an indicator system of this type lies in the fact that in particular when travelling in backed-up traffic drivers are given more comprehensive information on the driving state of the vehicle travelling ahead and a driver can be given earlier warning of braking by the lighting-up of the yellow lamp (3) which of course is always actuated before the red lamp (4) and the brake lights. <IMAGE>
