PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively eliminate fixed pattern noise in a vertical stripe shape (vertical stripe noise). SOLUTION: Under control of a control section 116, a memory 115 outputs correction signals A(m), B(m) corresponding to the output system of an image sensor from which an input (output signals of addresses (m, n) of a CMOS image sensor 101) is output. A subtractor 111 subtracts a black level from the input. An adder 112 adds the correction signal B(m) to an output signal X(m, n) of the subtractor 111. A multiplier 1134 multiplies an output signal äX(m, n)+B(m)} of the adder 112 by the correction signal A(m). In the output signal Y(m, n)=A(m)*äX(m, n)+B(m)} of the multiplier 113, even when longitudinal stripe noise is included in the signal X(m, n), the relevant longitudinal stripe noise is excluded. An adder 114 adds the black level back to the output signal Y(m, n) of the multiplier 113 and defines a result as an output. Since a correction signal is used which corresponds to not only an offset component but also a light quantity dependent component, the vertical stripe noise can be effectively eliminated.
