METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RECORDING BROADCAST DATA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide time shifting and a DVR system which are not limited to a data stream having a specified format. SOLUTION: The system receives a broadcast data stream that is encoded using any encoding format. The received broadcast data stream is demultiplexed and stored on a storage device. In response to a command to play back the stored broadcast data stream, the stored data stream is retrieved and rendered in a manner that corresponds to the play back command.
