PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape reel, recording tape cartridge, machine reel, and drive unit which can regulate fluttering in the axial direction of a hub and prevent tape edge damage when winding the recording tape around the hub. SOLUTION: The tape reel 20 comprises the hub 22 around which the recording tape T is wound, and flanges 24 and 26 laid on both ends of the hub 22. At the hub 22, a large radial section 22A which has a radius larger than the radius of both ends of the hub 22 is formed so that the large radius section 22A is off set in either side of one flange 24 or the other flange 26 rather than in the central part of the width of the hub 22.
