PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve writing processing characteristics by using head floating height as a suitable floating height, the head floating height being actualized in a period after a storage medium begins rotation from a stopped state until ambient temperature of a storage device is in a stationary state, in such a period directly after start of the storage device. SOLUTION: The storage device is provided with: a measuring part measuring operation time of the storage device; a driving part rotationally driving the storage medium; a head slider provided with a head element composed of a reading element performing readout processing from the storage medium and a writing element performing writing processing to the storage medium and a heater protruding the head element to the storage medium; and a control part controlling a protruded amount of the head element. The control part performs indication to supply electricity of a prescribed first amount to the heater until the time measured by the measuring part reaches a predetermined value and performs indication to supply electricity of a prescribed second amount lower than the prescribed first amount to the heater after the time exceeds the predetermined value.
