PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly display a reproduction elapsed-time without using an expensive and high performance processor in special reproduction (fast-forward playback and fast-reverse playback) of an information reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: When data in an arbitrary block is intermittently read from a recording medium constituted of the plurality of blocks and storing reproduction data for fast-forward or fast-reverse reproducing the read data, a first reproduction elapsed-time is calculated from the end time of normal reproduction and the cycle of fast-forward or fast-reverse playback, a second reproduction elapsed-time of a cycle shorter than that of the fast-forward or fast-reverse playback is generated by a reference clock or a signal obtained by multiplying the reference clock, and a reproduction elapsed-time is displayed to complement the first reproduction elapsed-time by the second reproduction elapsed-time.
