PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve vehicle mounting properties of an engine by miniaturizing an axial direction occupation space of an assembly angle adjusting mechanism and increase control speed of valve timing. SOLUTION: Three sliding grooves 11a, 11b, 11c along a radial direction are formed on one end surface of a timing sprocket 2 and each second guide ball of three movable operation member 14 is slidably engaged with each sliding groove. Each movable operation member 14 is connected to a camshaft 1 via a link arm 15 and a lever member 12. Each first guide ball 20 of the movable operation member is engaged with a three spiral guide grooves of a predetermined curvature formed in an inner end surface of the guide plate 23, and the movable operation member is displaced in a radial direction by rotation of the guide plate 23. Relative rotation of the timing sprocket and the camshaft 1 is converted by the radial displacement of the movable operation member to control valve timing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
