PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the risk that a steel sheet in the process of production is oxidatively deteriorated in case of power failure generation. SOLUTION: A steel sheet S passes through a deflector roll 122 in an introduction chamber 120, is introduced into a channel 112, and moves from the lower part to the upper part in a body vessel 111. At this time, a molten metal M sticks to the steel sheet S, and plating is performed. In the introduction chamber 120 and the introduction passage 121, inert gas is filled, so as to prevent the oxidative deterioration of the steel sheet S. In case power failure is generated, seal plates 131a, 131b in an atmosphere shielding apparatus 130 are made to come close to each other, and sandwich the steel sheet S, and, by the seal plates 131a and 131b closed in this way, the inside of the introduction chamber 120 is partitioned into the downstream side space 120a and the upstream side space 120b. In this way, after the molten metal is made to flow out, the air is made to flow into the downstream side space 120a, but is not made to flow into the side of the upstream side space 120b, and the steel sheet S on the upstream side of the upstream side space 120b is not exposed to the air, and is prevented from being oxidatively deteriorated.
