A spreading unit i.e. spring element, is formed as an auxiliary aid that is arranged between a housing part (3) and the arm that is axially spaced in a mounting position opposite to the housing part. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling an automatic clamping system for a traction mechanism drive for use in internal combustion engines of motor vehicle.
