A heating furnace is shaped as an insert part for placing in the firing compartment of an open fireplace, and having an open upper side such that flue gases escaping the heating furnace are carried to the chimney, said upper side being placed in sealing abutment with the gas exhaust opening 28 of the open fireplace. In order to increase the heat delivery, room air is drawn into an interspace between the bottom of the fireplace and the superjacent bottom 12 of the heating furnace insert, the air passing upwards along the rear side 6 of the insert, up to the rear openings of a number of horizontal tubes 38 extending across the upper end of the furnace in heat-conductive contact with the flue gases, and opening into the upper front side of the furnace where the circulating room air is delivered in a heated state. <IMAGE> |
