Described is a CO2 gas-absorbing material based on doped sodium zirconate including at least an alkaline metal from the: potassium, lithium and sodium group, which has a substantial capacity for absorbing CO2 within a range of 1 mol of absorbing material per 1 mol of CO2 gas. The absorbing material may include further elements such as: A1, K, Mg, Ca, Na, Li, Fe, Ti and C. Said material is capable of absorbing CO2 from about 400°C to about 790°C at CO2 concentrations of from about 1% to about 90% The inventive material has a greater rate of absorption and regeneration (desorption) of CO2. The absorbing material is also characterised in that it includes chemical compounds for the sodium-based manufacture thereof, which are more cost effective and environment harmless regarding the final destination thereof compared to those lithium-based compounds of the state-of-the-art.
