METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RETRANSMITTING DATA BASED ON ANTENNA SCHEDULING IN MIMO SYSTEM

A method and an apparatus for retransmitting data based on an antenna scheduling in a MIMO system are provided to improve retransmission probabilities by retransmitting packets through antennas which are adaptively scheduled for respective communication links. An apparatus for retransmitting data based on an antenna scheduling in a MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) system includes a transmitter end(100) and a receiving end. The transmitting end includes a packet modulator, a scheduler(108), and a transmission antenna assigning unit(106). The packet modulator converts an input packet to a transmission format. The scheduler determines a retransmission state of the packet and a coding ratio of the packet based on a feedback signal from the receiving end. The scheduler transmits a transmission antenna list to the transmission antenna assigning unit. The transmission antenna assigning unit assigns the transmission antenna according to the transmission antenna list. The receiving end includes a channel estimator, an antenna selector, a packet demodulator, and a feedback transmitter. The channel estimator estimates channel values from the transmitted packet. The antenna selector selects next antenna from the estimated channel value. The packet demodulator detects an error in the packet. The feedback transmitter transmits the retransmission of the packet and the feedback signal to the transmitter end.
