Described is a process for producing ferric oxide and a concentrated solution of calcium chloride from pickled residual liquors, which contains ferrous chloride, hydrochloric acid and water and which consists in: treating the pickled residual solution with a previously purified lime slurry and an air stream within an agitated reactor in order to transform ferrous chloride into insoluble ferric hydroxide and a concentrated solution of calcium chloride, which are separated by filtration. The ferrous hydroxide resulting from the filter is transferred to a calciner so as to transform the same into ferric oxide.
