SURGICAL INSTRUMENT FOR RADIO COMMUNICATION BETWEEN CONTROL UNIT AND SENSOR TRANSPONDER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical instrument such as an endoscopic instrument or a laparoscopic instrument which includes an end effector equipped with at least a sensor transponder.

SOLUTION: This surgical instrument includes a shaft having a distal end section which is connected with the end effector, and a handle which is connected with the proximal end section of the shaft. The handle includes a control unit which communicates with the sensor transponder by at least an inductive coupling. The surgical instrument can be formed into a power assisted motor driven apparatus including a battery for at least partially feeding power to the surgical instrument at the time of activity. The surgical instrument can be constituted in a manner to feed back a load being applied to the end effector to a user.
