PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure of a clutch and make it compact. SOLUTION: In this clutch device for steer-by-wire, the clutch 23 is constituted by jointing a cylindrical rotating body 29 having a rotating cam part 29a with a high point and a low point to a pulley 13 connected to a pinion shaft 4a; providing a cylinder case 30 in which a pair of cylinder chambers 30a, 30b with pistons 31a, 31b having tip parts sliding on the rotating cam part 29a and reciprocating in the axially parallel direction are formed in a first rotating shaft 27 connected to a steering wheel 1; providing oil passages 33a-33g communicating the pair of the cylinder chambers 30a, 30b with each other to make the pair of pistons 31a, 31b cooperate; and providing a solenoid valve 36 for stopping a flow of oil reciprocating inside the oil passages 33a-33g. When an abnormality occurs, the oil flow is stopped by operating the solenoid valve 36 and movement of the pair of pistons 31a, 31b is stopped, so as to connect the steering wheel 1 with the pinion shaft 4a.
