PURPOSE:To efficiently transfer a tank to a new hull by suspending waterproof sheets with a desired width around an LNG tank which are connected to separate waterproof sheets one after another successively downward to cover the lower part of the tank to permit it to float on the sea. CONSTITUTION:Waterproof sheets 5 having a desired width are suspended from the top of a tank through wires 6 around the center area of the LNG storage tank 2 with heat insulating material 4 applied to it. Then, separate waterproof sheets are connected to the lower end of the waterproof sheets 5 one after another successively downward to cover the predetermined area of the lower part of the tank 2. After that, the tank 2 is drawn to the sea surface to be floated, and is stowed into a hold 3 of a new carrier for securing by welding. As there is no need to remove the heat insulating material 4 around the tank, the work can be performed efficiently.
