<p>A glide head used currently lowers the number of revolutions of a magnetic disk and operates it at a circumferential speed higher by 3-4 m/s than a circumferential speed (TDV) at which the slider of the glide head begins to slide on the lubricant of a magnetic disk thus avoiding attraction of the slider to the magnetic disk. Measurement at a high circumferential speed causes deterioration in S/N, and attraction phenomenon easily due to collapse of floating height or floating posture through vibration. The disclosed glide head for a magnetic disk is a negative pressure floating type slider having a cross rail type floating rail provided with at least one groove, an air introduction surface lower than the floating rail surface provided on the air inflow side of the floating rail, and a negative pressure surface lower than the air introduction surface, wherein the inflow groove of the floating rail is formed like a funnel which is wide on the air inflow side and narrow on the air outflow side. Since an opening angle to the center line of the funnel is 15-60 degrees, the difference between TDV and TOV can be made 1 m/s or less.</p> |
