<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insecticidal and germicidal apparatus suitable for continuously treating a large amount of field crops. <P>SOLUTION: A fixed discharge potential is applied to between a pair of discharge electrodes 1a/1b by a voltage application apparatus 2 and a hollow cathode discharge is generated between recessed parts 1ah and 1bh of opposing faces to give high-electron concentration. Argon is supplied to an argon supply pipe 3 and a hollow cathode plasma P is produced and jetted downward at an end 3o. A treatment object S in a container C having a properly open top is placed on a placing stand 5. When atmosphere in the vicinity of the treatment object S is air or oxygen or water (vaporized state) is supplied from a radical source supply pipe 4 to the treatment object, and reacted with the hollow cathode plasma P of argon, oxygen is converted to an atomic oxygen and water is converted to a hydroxy radical. Since the atomic oxygen and the hydroxy radical directly act on a cell membrane or the like of organism, microorganisms such as fungi and insects being small animals perish in a short time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
