BIREFRINGENT OPTICAL FILM, ELLIPTICALLY POLARIZED PLATE USING SAME AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY USING THEM

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a birefringent optical film having both high orientation to easily attain a desirable phase difference and a small photoelastic coefficient.

SOLUTION: The birefringent optical film is constituted so as to contain two or more kinds of polymer materials in each of which the sum of the product of modulus Cn of the photoelastic coefficient and volumetric percentage Wn satisfies following equation 1 and to contain at least one kind of a polymer of ≥60×10-8cm2/N in photoelastic coefficient. The equation 1 is expressed by Σ(Cn×Wn)<=30×10-8cm2/N.
