PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information search device and a control method therefor, and a control program, capable of simplifying a labor hour of inputting characters in a character input search by displaying the next input-available character candidate and the subsequent input-available character candidate after the next character candidate on the same screen. SOLUTION: A second character candidate extracting section 34 extracts a second character candidates as the next character of a first character candidate in the name of a predetermined position at which the first character candidate is extracted, a character candidate number detecting section 36 confirms the number of the extracted second character candidates, a second character candidate display control section 38 displays those satisfying a display-available condition on a display section 5 based on the number of the second candidates and information related to the second candidates extracted by the second character extracting section 34.
