PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a route setting method and navigation device capable of improving the usability. SOLUTION: In the route setting method allowing a user to determine the route where one's own vehicle travels using a map screen of a display 5, when the user's finger or a dedicated pen touches a road displayed on the map screen 5a, the contact position of the finger or pen is acquired, the map coordinate corresponding to the contact position is detected, the route from the detected map coordinate to the next branch point in the progressing direction of the own vehicle is set as the route of the own vehicle, and guide is performed based on the set route.
