PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a reduction in S/N ratio when using a plurality of filters for preventing excitation light from being detected, in an image scanner which scans an image recorded on an image carrier by illuminating the excitation light. SOLUTION: The image scanner illuminates the excitation light on the image carrier to excite the carrier and then scans an image recorded on the image carrier by photoelectrically detecting light emitted from the image carrier depending on the excitation by using a photomultiplier. A filter module 45 is arranged on an optical path toward the photomultiplier. The filter module 45 includes a filter 62 and a filter member 60 composed of an approximately cylindrical holder 64 which holds the filter 62. The filter module 45 is configured by stacking the filter members 60 in three layers. In the holder 64, when the filter members 60 are stacked, an interval d between each filter 62 is set to 10 mm or more. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
