PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent one's own vehicle from stopping at a branch point by at a red or yellow light even if a preceding vehicle is present in front of the own vehicle. SOLUTION: A basic speed plan is set so that the vehicle can pass through as many traffic signals as possible during a green light while traveling at a fixed speed of a limited speed or less. When a preceding vehicle is running before the next branch point, whether the own vehicle catches up the preceding vehicle when traveling according to a basic traveling speed or not is determined. When the result is negative, the basic speed plan is reported to a driver as it is. When the result is affirmative, whether the two or more lanes of the road exit at a catch up point is further determined. When the two or more lanes exist, the basic speed plan is reported to the driver as it is. When one lane exists, the basic speed plan is corrected based on the green light time, the distance to the branch point, and the temporal change in position of the preceding vehicle.
