PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchronizing signal generation circuit capable of generating a unipolar synchronizing signal having only one of positive or negative polarity with small-scale circuit composition irrelevantly to the polarity of a video synchronizing signal obtained from a video signal based upon the video synchronizing signal. SOLUTION: The synchronizing signal generation circuit detects level variation of the video synchronizing signal obtained from the video signal to generate a level variation detection signal. Each time the level variation detection signal is generated, the varying signal is output as the unipolar synchronizing signal having only one of the positive or negative polarity irrelevantly to the polarity of the video signal synchronizing signal.
