PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive magnetostriction axial force sensor superior in robustness. SOLUTION: A turnover part 3 turned over plural times along an axial direction of a shaft member 2 is formed on the shaft member 2 on which the axial force acts. The turnover part 3 is provided with a pair of magnetic members adjacent each other in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction, having magnetostriction, and having tensile stress at one of the pair of magnetic members and compression stress at the other generated due to the acting axial force. A magnet 13 is disposed between the pair of magnetic members. Magnetic sensors 4A, 4B detecting a stray magnetic flux from the magnetic members are disposed on a side where the magnet 13 is disposed in the pair of magnetic members and the opposite side, respectively.
