PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus and a printing method capable of reducing the time required for the process of displaying thumbnails of image data processed under reprinting conditions when they are to be reprinted. SOLUTION: In order to display a thumbnail image 100 of a reprintable image file in a LCD 49, a complex machine generates, upon original printing, the thumbnail image 100 from printing intermediate data converted from the image file based on print setting, combines the printing intermediate data, the thumbnail image 100, and other print information into one reprint data, and store the data in an external storage or a built-in memory. When user specifies reprinting, the complex machine searches all reprint data stored in the external storage and built-in memory and displays thumbnail images 100 of reprint data in the LCD 49.
