A manual roller shade (18) includes a clutch mechanism (12) having a gear train transferring rotation of an input sprocket (66) to rotation of an output member (54) engaging a roller tube. The gear train includes a sun gear (100), planet gears (104) supported by a carrier (78) and engaging the sun gear, and a ring gear (122) engaging the planet gears (104). According to one embodiment, the first claim carrier (78) does not rotate. The ratio between the diameters of the input sprocket (66) and the roller tube (14) is selected to offset mechanical advantage of the gear train to provide an effective gear train ratio of approximately 2:1. A drive chain guide system includes spaced guide wheels (90a, 90b, 90c) controlling where a drive chain (58) is suspended from the manual shade (10). A roller shade mounting system includes a bracket (18) receiving either an input assembly of the manual roller shade (10) or a motor of a motorized roller shade (192) to facilitate conversion.
